Temperature Blanket

Happy Tuesday Friends =)  We are in the middle of a really cold spell in our area.  We've had a weird winter where one day it's 40 degrees and then the next it's absolutely freezing  Have you ever heard of a temperature blanket?  As of recent I had no idea what it was.  And then my blog buddy Jennifer from Sweet Little Lovings posted a photo on Instagram of a temperature blanket that she was crocheting.  And then I googled it, and wanted to make one my self.

So basically your color is coordinated with whatever the temperature of the day is.  Like the temperature grid above.  So if you wake up and the high of the day is 24 degrees, then you are going to knit across one row in the teal.  So at the end of the year you will have a really fun bright colored blanket. Yes, it takes a year to make.  I chose my own colors to go with the temperatures.

These are the first 5 colors of the blanket.  Since it hasn't been super super warm I haven't even purchased the colors past aqua yet.

I wanted to start it from the beginning of the year, but I got a late start on it, so I went to the national weather service website and got the temperatures in my town for the last few weeks.

So far this is what I have.  I still have a couple of days to catch up on, but it's easy because it's only one row per day.

I am really anxious to see the final blanket.  But it's still going to be a long time before it's finished.

Thanks Jennifer for the idea =)
Have any of you ever made a temperature blanket?  I would love to see it if you have =)
Hope you all have a great day!

hello Monday

Hello Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend!  I was going to say they go by so fast...but not so much when you work all weekend.  We still managed to have a good weekend though.
Linkup your Monday post below =)

Friday evening was the talent show at Emma's school.  I am absolutely horrible because I didn't take one.single.picture.  Not a one.  I did take a video, and I have attempted to upload it here with no luck.  Emma sang the song, Hallelujah.  She did amazing.  She stood up in front of about 200 people and wasn't the least bit nervous.  I'm pretty darn proud of her.  And she sounded great =)

Saturday...again no pictures.  See I'm on a roll here.  Emma had a swim meet that lasted a really really long time.  Thankfully my dad took her since I was working.  She had to be there at 8:30 and it wasn't over until after 2:00.  She did well.  She placed 2nd in one of her heats =)

Sunday, are you shocked but no pictures!  My father in law brought Emma to the new trampoline park that opened recently.  She said it was a blast and said they had a toddler area, so I guess we will be taking Alyx there soon to get out some of that energy ;)

So now that I've recapped our weekend, I thought I would do something new today.  I know of a lot of bloggers that post their weekly meal plan, and I have to say, that I really like it.  It gives me ideas for dinner (which is something I really struggle with).  So here is our dinner menu for the week.

Monday
I'm going to try making these Enchiladas

Someone posted a similar recipe last week and I instantly knew I had to make some!

Tuesday
Crockpot Beef Stew
My recipe for this is super simple.  Beef, veggies, beef stock, a can of tomato soup, and an envelope of Beef stew seasoning.

Wednesday
This is a busy day because Brian works, and Emma has swim.  So i'm not able to stay home and cook dinner, so it will be an easy Tuna Casserole.  Emma loves it, and it's simple to make.

Thursday
Again, Brian is at work and I have to get Emma to and from swim, so another easy dinner of Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup.  Alyx loves grilled cheese lately.

Friday
Homemade pizza night =)  The girls both LOVE pizza.  I use Portland Pie pizza dough and I'll let Emma and Alyx make one for themselves with pepperoni and cheese.  And plus they love to make them.

I love seeing what everyone else makes for dinner, because it gives me new ideas =)
I hope you all have a great Monday!
See you back here tomorrow =)

Alyx and I get to spend a lot of one on one time together when Emma is in school, so usually it's spent out running errands and shopping of course.  The other day we hit up TJ Maxx to see if we could find my new obsession.  Rae Dunn mugs =)

And we found some!  I love these mugs, and I actually went back yesterday and picked up another one.  I am officially #obsessed.  Alyx wanted to hold up her Frozen bubble bath to show.  And then of course we had to take another one because she said "you can't see it!"

She absolutely cracks me up!  Her face! ha!

All week after school was spent at the pool.  As always.  Emma has another swim meet this weekend.

She's definitely improved since she started, but still has a ways to go.  Her best is the freestyle, but she has a lot to work on the butterfly.  She was working on it the other night, and I couldn't help but chuckle.  She'll get it eventually =)

We took Alyx out for breakfast yesterday after dropping Emma off at school.  She absolutely LOVES the fish tank at this restaurant.

I found this adorable Valentine craft on Pinterest and I can't wait to make it with the girls.

I think it will be really cute framed and hung up every year at Valentines.  I haven't decided if I am going to do 2 or just combine their fingerprints and make 1.

I hope you all had a great week, and I hope you have an even better weekend!  I'll be back on Monday for hello Monday.  So be sure to grab the graphic and link up!

What's Up Wednesday

Happy Wednesday my friends =)  today I am linking up with Shay, Mel & Sheaffer for, What's up Wednesday.

  What We're Eating This week

This week we are eating a lot of easy peasy meals.   I made a huge crockpot of spaghetti sauce and meatballs last week, and I froze the rest.  This week we are having meatball subs. Also one of Emma's favorites, chicken quesadillas.  Those are probably her favorite.  And lastly, homemade chicken stew.

 What I'm Reminiscing About

Seeing as though we are currently in the middle of a snow/ice storm, am reminiscing about warmer weather.  Preferably when I can walk to my car from work without my feet getting wet from the snow.  (I don't always wear boots)

What I'm Loving

This dining set.  But unfortunately at this moment, it's a bit out of our price range.
We currently have a "pub" style table.  So it's high.  It has the cream colored accent legs and chairs, and I want to stick with that look.  But I want something that isn't so high.  It was fine before we had kids, but I'm always afraid Alyx is going to fall off.  So we are currently looking for something different that isn't thousands of dollars like the above one ;)

What We've Been Up To

Well, if you read this blog on daily basis, then you know the answer to this.  Swim.  And lots and lots of swim.

Emma has another swim meet this weekend.  It's my weekend to work, so unfortunately I won't be able to go, but she will have a blast!

What I'm Dreading

I can't say that I am really dreading anything at the moment.  Maybe having to go out to my car later that is covered in 25 inches of ice. Okay, maybe not 25 inches of ice, but it's a lot ;)

What I'm Working On

Not a whole lot to be quite honest.  I just finished working with a couple of awesome "blog" people in revamping this little site of mine.  I couldn't be happier with the results.
I mentioned it the other day, but I worked with Kelsey at Kreated by Kelsey for my new header.  And I worked with this Etsy shop to get my template just the way I wanted it.
They were both amazing to work with and I highly recommend both!

What I'm Excited About

Would I be repetitive to say, No snow?? Haha  Other than that?  Not a whole lot!

What I'm Watching/Reading

Watching?  Ohhh my Chicago shows!!

I am SO excited for Chicago Justice to premiere!  I was so sad when Antonio left Chicago PD, but when I heard he would be on Chicago Justice, that made me happy =)  My husband wonders what will be next?  He thinks Chicago Sanitation! hahaha =)

If any of you have kids around the age of Emma, she's 10, then you should definitely check out the show, Just Add Magic on Amazon Prime.

Emma has finished both season 1 and season 2.  And she absolutely LOVES it.  She was sad when season 2 ended and hopes there is a season 3 in the works ;)

As far as what I'm reading...well you are going to have to wait a bit on that one.  Myself along with the following other bloggers host a monthly, What We're Reading Wednesday.

Johannah from The Sirois Family
Whitney from Work it Mommy
Crystal from Hall around Texas
Stephanie from Wife Mommy Me
Whitney from Polka-Dotty Place
Heather from My Glittery Heart
Justine from Little Dove Blog

Be sure to link up with us on the first Wednesday of every month! =)

What I'm Listening to

Pretty much anything on SiriusXM.  I went a while without Sirius, and I don't think I could live without it now.  Just the commercials on regular radio drive me insane! ha

 What I'm wearing

I tend to not photograph my clothes very often, but everyday I'm at work it's business casual and when i'm at home you'll find me in jeans or leggings.  I'm very fashionable ;) haha

 What I'm Doing This Weekend

Work. Blah.

Yup.

What I'm Looking forward To Next Month

School vacation for Emma.  We don't have a ton planned, but I think we are probably going to get out of town for a night.  She has an out of town swim meet and it's in the same area as our timeshare, so we may go stay the night there.

Bonus Question:
Which Bachelor is your favorite from year’s past?

Hands down.

Sean Lowe! I don't think any other season can even compare to Sean's season.  It was the best!

That's all for my what's up Wednesday.  I hope you all have a great day!

Tuesday Randoms

Happy Tuesday!  Today the kids here have no school....

Gosh I miss snow days.  I remember growing up I would always go to my aunts house on those particular days because she was a school teacher.  We would literally play in the snow from the time I got there in the morning until my mom picked me up at 3 in the afternoon.  We would always have hot cocoa and then soup for lunch.  And now I'm at work and don't ever get a snow day =)  Oh to be a kid again!

Last night I sent out emails to everyone who is going to participate in the nail polish exchange!  So if you are participating, be sure to check your email =)

Last night the evening was spent at Swim practice.

She has yet another meet this weekend.  This one is a big one.  I think there are 4 other teams that are participating in it.
I've been trying to figure out something to do with all of Emma's ribbons she gets from the meets.  I've come across these on Pinterest and I think I'm going to make one this week for her.

Simple enough!  And I think she will like having something to hang them off.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday, see you back here tomorrow!

Happy Tuesday!  Today the kids here have no school....

hello Monday

Here we are again...Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.  We did so let's recap a bit.  Grab the graphic, and link up below =)

We actually had a weekend where we were pretty much off from work and it was so nice!  Saturday morning we were up bright and early for Emma's swim meet.  It was our first time going to an "away" meet so we were all pretty excited.
Emma took the bus with her teammates, and Brian and I met her there.
She did really well.  I'm not certain yet where she placed, we won't get the results until probably Tuesday, but I think she did good!

Emma is the second one in from the left.

She swam the 50 freestyle, 50 backstroke and the 200 freestyle relay.

She's in lane 3.

Thankfully my mom offered to watch Alyx for us while we were there.  It's a long day for her when she has to sit in the hot pool area.  After the meet was over, we grabbed a quick dinner, and Emma rode home with us.  We made a quick stop at LL Bean first.  I was in desperate need of a new pair of shoes that I can wear in the winter.

I needed something that wasn't boots, but I could walk in the darn winter weather with them on.  Plus they are super comfy.

Emma always enjoys playing in the big fish tank at LL Bean.

Sunday was spent at home being a bit lazy.  However I did get a bunch of my cupboards cleaned out and organized!

My spices have always been in cupboard, but I changed it to a drawer and I think it will be more organized this way.

I really should have taken before pictures...because it was bad!

Sunday evening was ended by watching our New England Patriots kick some butt!

Lastly, don't forget about the Nail Polish blog swap!
