Baby Shower =)

Yesterday my mother in law hosted a baby shower for us!  We had a really great time, and we got a ton of stuff!!  Lots and lots of clothes, diapers, wipes, baby wash...I could go on and on =)  Emma had a lot of fun helping me open all of the gifts.  She got just as excited about the little tiny baby clothes as I did.  One of my friends even found Emma and Alyx matching pj's, so Emma thought that was just the coolest thing ever!

Our family of 3...soon to be 4 =)

Lots of gifts!  I was a little overwhelmed with everything! haha

And of course...cake!  You can't have a shower of any kind without cake =)

I didn't have a lot of time to take photos yesterday of all the stuff we got, but I did snap a couple of pictures to share.

I thought this idea was great!!  A Hospital survival kit!  Filled with stuff for...Me!  Haha  Magazines, bubble bath and shower gell, Footies, some hard candy, 2 bottles of Life water, lotions and much more in the bottom.  My husbands cousin did this up, she's too clever!

This was from my sister in law and nieces =)  I love the blanket!  And it was filled with diapers, wipes, clothes, teethers, bottles, bottle brushes, all kinds of stuff!

My mother in law makes baskets, and she made this one.  It was adorable!  Filled with baby bath stuff, onesies, receiving blankets, little toys, and a bunch of other stuff.  We definitely got spoiled by everyone!

Brians grandmother passed away a few months ago.  She knew we were pregnant before she passed, and she made a blanket for the baby.  So on the gift table was a bag that said it was from his grandmother.  I was confused at first, but when I opened it and saw the blanket I just about started to cry.  It is beautiful, and she knew she was really sick and probably wouldn't make it to see the birth of the newest great grandchild, and she took the time to make sure she got a blanket done for Alyx.  It's beautiful and i'll make sure to take a picture of it soon!

So now to find room for all this stuff! We haven't got the baby's room done yet.  And oh my am I starting to stress about this.  We have just a little over a month now left.  It WILL get done! haha  My parents and inlaws went in together and bought the crib for us.  Since Emma's crib turned into a fullsize bed, we needed another crib.  I can't wait to get it, I'm in love with it!  And I can't wait to get the room all decorated for Alyx.  A Hobby Lobby just opened the other day here, and I went and found a ton of stuff there that is going to be just perfect for her room.  So in the next week or so we will start on the room!

Last night was the first night in a while that I actually slept.  I only got up once, and I thought for sure I would be up the rest of the night, but as soon as I got back into bed, I fell right back to sleep.  So I woke up this morning feeling so much more refreshed and well rested.  I'm to the point where it is so difficult to get comfortable in bed.

Hope everyone enjoys their Monday!!!

Baby Update {33 Weeks} & Some Randoms

We've made it to 33 weeks as of today!  YAY! =)  Here is an update!

Due Date?  Still November 14th =)

How Far Along?  33 Weeks today! =)  7 weeks to go!

Size of Baby?  The app on my phone shows she is the size of a honeydew!  Last week she was about 3 1/2 pounds according to my doctor.

Gender?  Girl!! =)

Weight Gain?  At my last appointment, last week I still hadn't gained any weight.  And after the baby is born hopefully this will continue! HA! =)

Maternity Clothes?  All.The.Time.  I'm at the point now where I just don't feel comfy in anything other than yoga pants and tank tops.  But...I don't think my boss would approve of that attire at work =)

Food Cravings?  It's been chinese all along...and yes i'm still craving that as well.  But i'm also craving boneless buffalo tenders.

Movement?  Still all the time.  Sometimes it's at the point where when she moves it's almost painful.  I'm not sure if i'm getting kicked in the ribs or what...but boy does she move a lot!!

Labor Signs?  Nope...although I did have to google braxton hicks the other night!!

Belly button in our out?  In

What I miss?  A lot right now.  Sleeping in general.  I feel like I only sleep for about an hour at a time and then i'm awake for 2 or 3 hours.  Brian has woken up to me wandering around the house a few times at all hours of the night. haha  I also miss having more ambition with Emma.  I'm positive she misses it as well.  By 7:00 at night when i'm home i'm more than ready for bed and just beat.  I feel like lately I haven't given Emma the attention that she completely deserves.  =(

Looking forward to?  My next ultrasound next week!  Can't wait to see Alyx again! =)  And my baby shower which is this weekend!  I actually think that Emma is more excited about the shower than I am =)
**************************************************************

So now for some random stuff!  The other night I made a pasta dish, that was amazing.  I have to share the recipe with you.  Totally wasn't on my pregnancy diet...but I may have cheated a bit =)  The recipe came from The Pioneer Woman, and it's called Penne a la Betsy.  It was a huge hit with Brian and Emma.  I did modify it some.  Instead of using shrimp, like the recipe calls for, I used chicken.  And I didn't have any herbs in the house, so I used a bag of spinach, and used wheat pasta.  My picture is terrible, but I highly recommend trying it!

A few days ago I took Emma to the mall so she could spend some birthday money at build a bear.  Plus I had a coupon that needed to be used soon.  Only stipulation when we go to build a bear...no clothes.  They are so expensive, and Emma never keeps them on the bears.

We ended up with a black cat with an orange nose and orange paws.  She's been named "Pumpkin"  =)

And of course I know you are all just dying to know...my cold is just about gone!  haha  Thank god!!  My back pain...still there.  I have a feeling that this is something I will have to deal with until the baby is born.  We'll see though...keeping my fingers crossed that it goes away!!

Baby Update {32 Weeks}

Due Date?  November 14th =)

How Far Along?  32 weeks!  7 weeks to go! =)

Size of Baby?  According to the pregnancy app on my phone it says the baby is about the size of Honeydew.  At our appointment this past week the doctor said she is about 3 1/2 pounds.  He said she is still on the small size.

Weight Gain?  Still no weight gain.  I'm good with this =)

Maternity Clothes?  All the time.  I wish I could wear yoga type pants and t-shirts all day every single day.  On my days off if we are out and about I put normal clothes on, but the second we walk back into the house, my clothes are off and i'm in comfy pants and t-shirts or tanktops.

Food Cravings?  Staying the same...Chinese!  As soon as she is born I told Brian we are going to order takeout chinese =)
Gender?  Girl...Alyx Grace =)

Movement?  All the time.  She's a mover that's for sure!

Labor Signs?  Nope!

Belly button in our out?  In

What I miss?  Sleeping.  It's been a rough rough week in the sleep department.  Between my nasty cold that I have had, and this new onset of back pain that i'm experiencing, there has been very little sleep.  I've never had backpain quite like this before, and I can't ever get comfortable.  When i'm at home you can most likely find me on the couch.  I feel bad because i'm definately not giving Emma the attention she deserves right now, but she is such a good girl and tells me that she understands.  Last night she brought me a big glass of ice water and a pillow and told me to rest =)  I love that little girl!

Looking forward to?  Getting through the rest of the week!  Just taking it day by day.  I'm further along in my pregnancy now than I was with Emma.  So as I go on through the rest of my pregnancy everything i'm experiencing is basically all new to me.  Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of it goes well =)

***************************************************************************

So I have decided to try knitting a carseat blanket for Alyx.  I've never done a blanket before, so I was pretty excited to get started.  I found a super easy pattern online.  It's almost exactly the same pattern as the dishcloth pattern, but a little bit different.  I got it started this afternoon, and i'm so dissapointed in the yard.  It's rough and not very soft.  I figured I would finish it and then try washing it and see if it softens up at all.  If not, then Emma will have a new blanket for her dolls =)  And i'll find a softer yarn!

Its not going to be huge my any means, just enough to cover her up while she's all cozy in her carseat =)

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!  Mine will be spent working...and hoping this darn back pain goes away!!

Happy 7th Birthday Emma!

I cannot believe that Emma is 7 years old already!  These past 7 years have truly flown by.  This past Sunday we celebrated Emma's birthday party.  We didn't go over the top this year with a party.  Usually i'm super organized when it comes to her birthday and have it planned out months in advance.  Well, this year was different.  We planned it within about a week.  But it was still fun, and Emma had a blast!!

I think her cake turned out super cute!!

We had a little "photo booth" set up for the kids to use.  Emma and her cousin Hannah thought it would be cute to set their American girl dolls up for a picture =)

The theme for the party was "Tie Dye"  The bought white shirts for all the kids, and then bought a tie dye kit.  They all got to tie dye their own shirt, and they had a blast!!!  It was a tad messy, so I made sure to tell all the parents to have the kids dress in play clothes for the party!
The shirts had to dry for 6 hours and then we were able to wash them.  They came out super cute!

The pinata was hard to get into!  But the kids finally managed to do it!

My camera started acting really weird when Emma was opening her presents.  All the pictures came out blurry.  But trust me, she got some great gifts!  Our gift to Emma was her very own Kindle Fire.  She was pretty excited!  And I have to say, i'm jealous because her Kindle is better than mine now! Haha  Isn't that the way it goes though, the kids always have nicer things then us?? =)

Emma had a great day for a party!  The weather was beautiful, and everyone had fun!

Happy Birthday Miss Emma!!! =)

Crazy Busy!

I feel like we have been crazy busy lately, on the go constantly.  I'm more than ready for some R&R.  I had mentioned in my last post that I haven't been feeling well.  And unfortunately it only got worse.  I ended up calling out of work sick on Friday.  I was miserable.  I called my doctor to find out if there was anything I could take for meds.    Thankfully they said to take some benadryl and get lots of rest.  My mother in law ended up taking Emma Friday night for me so I could just sleep.  Saturday I woke up feeling a little better.  From the minute we woke up on Saturday until about 7pm we never stopped.  We had to shop for Emma's birthday party Sunday.  That will be another post very soon about her party =)  Saturday night I was forced into work from 7pm to 2am.  I was not happy since I wasn't feeling well, but there really wasn't anything I could do about it.  Sunday was Emma's party, and we had a great time!

Monday was picture day at school.  And Emma's official 7th Birthay!  As soon as we dropped the Birthday girl off at school, Brian and I headed to the doctors office for a baby checkup =)  I was nervous since I have been feeling so horrible, and since my due date for Alyx is basically the exact same date as Emma's due date.  And we ended up having Emma 2 months early.  So yeah I was nervous for this appointment.  We had about a 30 minute ultrasound which was amazing!  We got to see her move around a lot, open and close her mouth, move and wiggle her fingers, and get the hiccups!  I so wished Emma had been there to see all of this too, but she was at school.  We got some really good photos this time too!  Here is one picture of Miss Alyx Grace =)

Some people find ultrasound pictures weird, but I think that they are completely amazing!  We got our first glimpse of what our little peanut is going to look like =)   I'm getting so anxious to finally meet her!!

Since yesterday was Emma's actual birthday and we had her party on Sunday, she of course had to have cake!

And of course I sang Happy Birthday to her too =)
A full post on all her Birthday fun will come soon!

I work tonight and tomorrow night and then i'm off for 2 days.  And you can bet that on those 2 days you won't find me doing anything.  I'm probably going to lay on the couch for 2 full days =)

Baby Update {31 Weeks}

Due Date?  November 14th!

How far along?  31 weeks Today!  9 weeks to go and counting! =)

Size of baby?  According to my pregnancy tracker app on my phone, Alyx is about the size of a head of lettuce...about 3 pounds 2 ounces

Weight gain?  None still!

Maternity Clothes?  Yup!  I need to go shopping very soon for some new tops, and maybe another pair of jeans =)

Movement?  Still all the time.  She loves to move around in there.

Food Cravings?  My answer is going to remain the same as the last few weeks...Chinese food!!  But i'm waiting until she is born!

Gender?  Alyx Grace =)  Girl!

Labor Signs?  None yet!

Belly button in or out?  In

What I miss?  I still miss sleeping on my stomach.  Trying to get comfy at night is so hard these days.  I also miss being able to walk normal...I feel like i'm waddling!  And I miss playing with Emma.  I get so tired so easily these days.

Looking forward to?  Monday!  Another baby appointment and ultrasound!  Can't wait to see little Alyx again! =)

So the past few days, have been Horrible.  I have come down with a darn cold and it's literally kicking my butt.  It started with a sore throat, and has turned into a full blown cold.  I'm really hoping it goes away soon, because I haven't been able to get out of my own way.  Although I have been working and that's been rough!  It'll soon pass i'm sure!

Apple Picking {2013}

I have been sooo excited to go apple picking this year!  I was finally going to make a ton of homemade applesauce and jar them.  I had plans for apple crisps, and a couple of more apple recipes I found.  Well, we headed out apple picking today after Emma got out of school.  First place we went, Closed.  They are closed on Mondays.  Really?  Oh well, so we drove 18 more miles to the next orchard.  They were open!  So we drove through the orchard and finally got out and grabbed our bag.  Our plan was to pick a bushel of apples.  A bushel of apples is a lot, and only $20 for the entire thing.  Well guess what.  The apple picking this year is Horrible.  With a capital H.  After walking around the orchard for what seemed like forever, I asked Brian how many apples in our bag.  He says, 1.  Really?  Ughh.  We decided to just head back to the orchard store and buy a teeny tiny bag of apples for $6.50.  I was so disappointed.  But I did get to take some photos, so that was a plus!

And as you can see we had to drag Emma out of there =)

So tomorrow I suppose I will make one apple crisp out of the teeny tiny bag of apples that I paid a ridiculous amount for! ha!  Better be good =)

My parents came down and went with us, and treated us to dinner after.  It's nice being able to get together with them and have a meal.

On another note, Emma is just getting over a horrible cold.  She started coming down with it on Friday, and by Friday night she was miserable.  I felt so bad for her.  I stayed home from work on Saturday because she was starting to get the flu type symptoms.  She went to school today, and is doing so much better!

We are hoping to get a lot of stuff done tomorrow around the house.  We have lots of yard work that needs to be done, and I want to get the inside of the house in tip top shape for this weekend.  Emma will be turning the big "7" next Monday, and we are having her party on Sunday.  I cannot believe my little Emma is almost a 7 year old.  Time goes by way to fast.

Baby Update {30 Weeks}

YAY!  We're at 30 weeks as of today!!!  So here is my 30 week update!

Due Date?  November 14th...C-section!

How far along?  30 weeks as of today!  10 weeks left!  I can do this!

Size of baby?  According to my pregnancy tracker app on my phone baby Alyx is the size of a butternut squash and about 3 pounds and 1 ounce.  That is 1 ounce less than what Emma weighed when she was born!

Weight gain?  I'm down another pound.  I had my nurses visit the other day, and i'm still losing.  This doesn't seem right to be pregnant and not gaining any weight!

Maternity Clothes?  Oh yes!  I even made a super quick stop at Old Navy yesterday for a new top.  I'm in desperate need of tops very soon.  The very few I have, i'm tired of wearing! ha!

Movement?  All the time still!  She was moving around while I was at work the other night and everyone was standing around my desk watching =)

Food Cravings?  I.want.chinese.  LOL  I'm craving it soooo badly!

Gender?  Girl!  Alyx Grace

Labor Signs?  None!

Belly button in or out?  In!

What I miss?  My standard answer.  Sleeping on my stomach, and being comfortable at night sleeping.  Uggh.

Looking forward to?  The next 10 weeks.  I'm anxious to get everything in order and and being completely organized for baby Alyx's arrival!

On Tuesday I had a nurses visit at my doctors office.  They just wanted to check to make sure my blood pressure, urine, and weight was ok.  This is around the time when I went downhill fast when I was pregnant with Emma.  So they just want to keep an eye on things.  My weight was good.  Down 1 more pound.  My blood pressure was really good.  But my urine test, not so good.  She said there was traces of protein, blood and white blood cells.  She is certain that I have a uti, however I am having no symptoms of one.  So they are going to keep an eye on it for now and make sure it doesn't get any worse.

Here are a couple of pictures of Emma from today.  She got a new dress for school, and this morning insisted on dressing herself.  When I told her I thought the dress would look better with leggings and flats, she pitched a fit and said she loved how she was dressed.  So light pink tights and sparkle TOMS it was.  Oh well =)

And tonight while she was reading a book, she told us that her throat hurt really bad to swallow =(  I'm hoping she isn't on her way to getting sick.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hoping she wakes up in the morning feeling great!!

My Big 2nd Grader!

We're back at it!  School that is!  I can't even begin to tell you how excited Emma has been about starting school.  She was really excited about meeting her new teacher, and was even more excited to find out that Brian and his brothers had her as a teacher when they were little!  I was hoping to meet her new teacher this morning, but we didn't get the chance to.  I'm really excited about this school year for Emma.  I haven't even met her teacher yet, but she seems to be really involved with the students and the parents.  Just from what Emma brought home from school today, I think it's going to be a GREAT school year! =)  I did take some pictures of Emma this morning with my camera...but those are home and i'm at work.  So all you get is a couple of pictures from my phone for now ;)

It was super chilly this morning!!  We waited in the lobby of the school for Emma's big cousin Hannah who is entering 5th grade at Emma's school.  Hannah went to school at a neighboring town up until this year, and was used to having only about 50ish kids or so in the entire school.  In the school that Emma goes to, there is close to 600 kids.  I think Hannah was a bit nervous today!  But we talked to her after school and she did great and loved it!!

My niece Haley on the end is going to kindergarten this year in the next town!  These girls are growing up way to fast!

Emma came home today and is looking forward to day 2 tomorrow!!  Keeping my fingers crossed that the rest of the school year goes just as well today =)

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

The staples commercial.  It's the most wonderful time of the year, when the father is running through the aisles throwing back to school stuff into the cart, and the kids look less than impressed.  So do I think it's the most wonderful time of the year?  No!  To be quite honest, i'm sad that our summer is coming to an end.  The last summer of Emma being an only child too.  Crazy!  We are very excited though about the upcoming months and to meet baby Alyx =)

Emma starts school tomorrow morning.  Bright and Early.  I asked her last night what her favorite thing was that we did this summer.  Her reply...The Taylor Swift concert =)  And then she went on to say, swimming at Nana's, playing with her cousins.  And her list went on.  So i'm glad that she had a good summer, and i'm going to miss having her at home all day with me =(

We had a great weekend!  Brians parents had the whole family at their house on Saturday for Lobsters and clams...yumm!  And Brian made some really great ribs!

The salads were delish too!!

This was one of Brians plate...I think he may have been a little bit hungry! haha

All the kids had a blast playing together too.  And I completely forgot my good camera at home, so no pictures of the kids today.  Just food pictures! lol

Yesterday Emma and I hung out in the morning, and then went and did some last minute school shopping in the afternoon.  The college kids have moved back in town this weekend, and it's starting to get crazy at the stores and in town.  Brian ended up getting called into work last night because they expected huge college parties, but they didn't end up having any!  I told Brian it was a waste of time going into work....but the extra money is definately nice! Ha!! =)

I'll update tomorrow with Emma's first day of 2nd Grade!!!
