Our Christmas 2013

I can't believe that Christmas has come and gone for another year!!  We had a great day, and hope you did as well!  My parents were able to come down and spend a couple of days with us which was really nice.  Christmas Eve we went to my brother in laws to see Santa, and have a yankee swap =)  The kids had a blast, and were so excited to see that Santa came!!

Emma got an Elsa doll from the movie Frozen from Santa!

Alyx didn't mind sitting with Santa too =)  She also got Elsa from Frozen, only the plush doll

All the cousins with Santa!  Next year there will be another baby in the picture, only a little boy!  My sister in law is due the end of March with the first boy in the family =)

Emma (who clearly didn't know I was taking a picture) with my niece Haley.  Poor Haley is going through a lot right now.  She has been having a lot of seizures lately, and they aren't sure what is going on with her.  She is at the hospital today for an MRI of her heart.  We are praying and praying that everything is ok with her.

One of the best presents ever!!!

After we left my brother in laws we came back to our house and had some yummy appetizers.  Back wrapped scallops and lobster stuffed mushrooms.  So good!  Emma kept saying she needed to get to bed because she didn't want Santa to skip over her if she wasn't sleeping! haha

My dad and Alyx =)

My dad with Emma.  It's become a tradition that he reads her a book every Christmas Eve.

I love this picture of my girls.  The love that Emma has for her sister is just amazing.

We woke up on Christmas morning at about 6:00 am.  Emma was ready to dig into her stocking!!

The monkey bread was soooooooo good!! hehe =)

Santa brought Emma "The Voice" karaoke machine =)

Emma got sooo many things this year.  My parents and Brian's parents spoiled her that's for sure!

My favorite gift was from my parents

I am in LOVE with this sign!  And it fit perfectly on the front of our fireplace!!

Our Christmas was wonderful this year.  We have a lot to be thankful for that's for sure.

Merry Merry Christmas!!!

It's Christmas!!!  We had a great day today!  And we hope you and your family all had a great Christmas as well!  I will blog all about our day later, but we are thankful we were able to be together as a family and that we had power on Christmas as more than 30,000 people in Maine were without power due to a big ice storm we had.
Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Merry Christmas!

From Our Family to Yours...Merry Christmas!!!

Christmas Traditions

Today i'm linking up with Kelly's Korner for Christmas Traditions.  Our Christmas Tradition is nothing elaborate and really nothing big.  But it's something that we look forward to every Christmas morning.  So what is it?  Monkey Bread!  We started this tradition on Emma's very first Christmas.  And we have made it every year since.  I only make it once a year and that's Christmas morning =)

This was Emma back in 2008!!  And she is having monkey bread =)

And again in 2009 =)  I guess I missed a few years taking pictures!

If you are interested in the recipe...here you go!

It is beyond easy to make!!

So there you have it, our Christmas Tradition.  What is your families Christmas Tradition?

Christmas Cookies

Tonight we got together with a couple of my nieces and made and decorated Christmas sugar cookies.  A big mess was made, but a lot of fun was had =)

Emma sticks her tongue out just like me when I am concentrating =)

To say the least after today I am cookied out!  I made almost 4 dozen gingerbread cookies earlier in the day for Emma to take to school tomorrow.  My decorating skills were horrible as well.  They pretty much look like a 3 year old decorated them! haha

Our Going On's

Can you seriously believe we are 6 days away from Christmas!  It has totally snuck up on me this year.  It's not like i've been busy of preoccupied with a baby or anything either ;)  I think I am just about done shopping.  We didn't go overboard at all this year.  In years past I most certainly have.  I'm sure my girls will get spoiled by their grandparents.  It's so weird saying "my girls"!  I'm still getting used to that =)  So let's see what we've been up to lately!

A package came in the mail last week for Emma and Alyx.  Matching zebra hats from Brian's Aunt!  I love them, and Emma just LOVES having matching things with Alyx.  And I think they look pretty darn cute too =)

Brian surprised me with an early Christmas gift!  A new mothers ring =)  Emma's birthstone is on the left, and Alyx's is on the right.  I just love it!  Last year for Christmas he got me a family ring, and since Alyx has joined our family it was time for a new one =)

Patch thought Emma would like to have a cupcake after school!  She thought this was the greatest thing ever!  And she always gets a kick out of Patch's notes and how he writes some of his letters backwards ;)

Look who is doing a little smiling these days!  Man these smiles are hard to capture on the camera!  It seems like every time I take the camera out...she stops!  haha  And look at those eyes!  I call her blueberry eyes.  None of us have blue eyes, but i'm hoping that Alyx's stay this bright blue!!

Miss Emma is at school today and Miss Alyx and I are hanging out.  I have to get 2 dozen gingerbread man cookies done today for Emma to bring to school tomorrow.  I have to tell you, I was pretty surprised when I opened Emma's backpack last week and found a note in there from her teacher saying they were doing a Christmas celebration this coming Friday.  Emma also has been coming home from school talking a lot about Jesus.  They have been learning a lot about the true meaning of Christmas and talking to the kids about Jesus.  I think it is great, but i'm shocked.  This is the first year they have really done anything at all Christmas related at school.  She's had fun this week at school!  Alright...since Alyx is napping I need to start on these cookies!! =)  Happy Thursday all!

Our Christmas Card *2013*

I love doing Christmas Cards every year!  And this year I am linking up with The Christmas Card Carousel hosted by Faith!  Not only do I love doing Christmas cards every year, I also love getting them!  Brian laughs at me this time of the year because i'm always so anxious for the mailman to get to our house!  We hang them up around one of our doorways so they are on display.  It's always fun to see what people have been up to throughout the year.  I love love love photo Christmas cards.  Some people think they are very impersonal, which yeah they kind of are, but I love seeing how much kids have grown from year to the next.
Last year when doing our yearly photo card, I never would have thought that we would have another person in the picture!  And i'm sure some people that I sent the cards out to were surprised to see a baby in the picture =)  I just love this photo of Emma & Alyx.

I cannot believe that Christmas is exactly 1 week from today!!  I have most of my shopping done, just a few little things I still need to get.  And wrapping...oh my gosh...wrapping!  I haven't even started yet!!  That is on my list of things to do this weekend!  I'm excited because my parents are coming down on Monday to stay for a few days with us.  It's always so nice to have them here!

Now it's your turn.  Link up and share your 2013 Christmas card!! =)

Show & Tell * Favorite Ornaments

I did a post like this last year, and I thought...hey why not, let's do it again!  Although our tree is short a few ornaments this year...i'll explain that after!  Here are a few of my most *favorite* Christmas ornaments!

Our newest ornament this year!  I got it at one of those little Kiosk places in the mall =)

This one was also bought at a kiosk in the mall back in 2006 when we bought our first and only home so far!

Emma's Polar Express Bell.  I love this one because she goes over and shakes it quite often and says "Mommy I can still hear it"  Gosh, i'm hoping she always hears it ring!! =)

Emma's hand print when she was a year old!

This ornament we got in New York City the night Brian proposed to me =)  We got it at Rockefeller Center, they have these angels there life size too!

This one reminds me of home.  Where I grew up.  My mom gave it to me my first Christmas away from home.

So I have a lot of other ornaments that are special to us...but....they are Missing!!!!  For the life of me I can't find them anywhere.  I don't know what in the world would have happened to them.  They are all our Disney ornaments, that we got at Disney World. It makes me sad, but i'm sure they will come up at some point.  We always put our Christmas stuff in the same place every year, but i'm assuming this box got put somewhere else.

Our Elf "Patch" visited last night.

Do you see what he brought with him?  If you look right under him there is a "Patch" ornament!  Emma LOVED this!  She thought it was the coolest thing =)

I think we might write his name of the stocking =)

So now it's your turn...share your favorite ornaments too!  I would love to see them!!!  Come on, you know you want to =)
