Happy Tuesday

Happy Tuesday Friends!  I feel like I have been in such a blogging rut lately.  I am desperately trying my hardest to get out of it, because blogging is something that I truly love doing.  I think between juggling work and after school activities, we've just been too busy and that leaves very little time to sit down and actually post.  I need a personal planner in my life to organize everything for me! Ha! =)
Anyway...so Emma had her second swim meet of the season last weekend.  I was excited because I was off from work and we were all able to go =)

I'm still learning all the swim lingo, but she swam in 3 heats.  She came in 1st place in 2 of the heats, the 50 free style and also the 100 free style.  The 3rd heat was a 200 relay.  She did really well in that event, but they came up a bit short.  Free style is definitely her favorite.  I'm very proud of how well not only Emma did but the entire team.  This team is kids ages 5 to 17.  And the older kids are absolutely amazing with the younger kids.  Cheering them on and helping them.  It's really great.  And can I just say for a minute how completely different we have found swim parents to be from basketball parents?!?!  We've done both, and the swim parents are so nice and I love hearing them cheer on other kids and not only theirs.  We didn't experience that with basketball which is sad.  Emma has found her sport for sure.

Last night while at swim practice I got a text from my mother in law who was watching Alyx.  All it said was "Umm Alyx is throwing up everywhere".  My poor girl.  We headed to the store after swim and loaded up on Popsicles, ginger-ale and Gatorade.  We snuggled in the recliner for a few hours and watched a couple of movies.

She looked up at me at one point and said "Momma your little girl is sick"  Talk about wanting to cry when she said that!  Ugh.  I hate when my girls aren't feeling well.  I was really worried we were going to be in for a long night.  But she did a lot better than I expected her to. We're laying low today and staying home all day.

Since Emma had a good swim meet (and she is spoiled rotten by my parents) my mom surprised her Saturday afternoon with the LL Bean duck boots she has been wanting.

I had boots like this when I was her age, and everyone hated them!  Whenever I wore them I would throw a fit because I knew people would make fun of me.  Ugh kids can be so mean.  But now they are in the in boot.  And I'm glad because I love them still and I love the ones I have too.

I hope you all have a great Tuesday! =)

You can find my post this past Wednesday by clicking HERE.

Alyx may be 3 years old, but we had the most horrible time taking her paci away.  I said that I wasn't going to take it away before we went to Florida, but it was my goal when we came back.
Nighttime is what I was worried about.  She never had it at daycare and pretty much during the day at home, but at night...that's when she wanted it.

First night of taking it away was a success!  She fell asleep while sitting with me in the living room and since Tuesday, she hasn't asked for it once!  She even found one and threw it in the trash =)

A lot of our time this week after school and work has been spent at the pool.

Emma has her first home swim meet this weekend and I'm super excited because I am actually off from work and we will all be able to go =)
She's having a bit of difficulty in the diving area, but she's starting to somewhat get the hang of it ;)

So it's a short Friday Favorites, but our week has been pretty boring around here!  I hope you all have a great Friday and a great weekend!!!

Linking up with Karli and Amy =)
Also linking up with Liz, Christina, Natasha, and Darci =)

And lastly, linking up with Katie, Tiff, Della and Caitlin =)

What We're Reading Wednesday

Back around November, Stephanie invited me to co-host a new linkup for 2017, What We're Reading Wednesday.  I was really excited about this, because I feel like I really didn't read a whole lot in 2016 and this would force me to read more this year!
Over the next year I am excited to share with all of you what I've been reading, and I am also excited to hear what you have been reading!  It will be fun to get some new recommendations on books too =)
So join us the first Wednesday of every month, and share what you have been reading!

Meet your Hosts:

Johannah from The Sirois Family
Whitney from Work it Mommy
Crystal from Hall around Texas
Stephanie from Wife Mommy Me
Whitney from Polka-Dotty Place
Heather from My Glittery Heart
Justine from Little Dove Blog

This month is going to be when I really start getting back into reading.  Like I mentioned, last year I didn't read as much as I would have liked to.  Towards the end of the year I picked up the book, The Magnolia Story.  You guys, I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book.  If you've not heard of it, it's the story behind Chip & Joanna Gaines the couple from the HGTV show, Fixer Upper.

I'm not going to spoil this book, because I think that every woman should read it.  But it gives you a glimpse into their lives when they first met, and how Chip has always been as crazy as he is now!  They balance each other out as a couple and also work partners so well.  Their relationship with family, faith and God has led them to where they are today.  I loved how this book was unlike any other I've read and it shares both of their sides of each topic they cover.  It's not just one sided.  It had me laughing and then crying.  They are certainly a down to earth couple and family, and I don't see how fame has changed them in the least bit.
I'm downright obsessed with them and their TV show.  So if you have been living under a rock and have never watched their show, do yourself a favor and grab a cup of coffee and turn on the TV to HGTV and watch it.  If it's not on, look for it on Netflix!  You won't regret it.  And then once you've watched an episode or two..or three or four....pick up the book and read it.

Here are the dates below to link up with us.  Any thing you have read goes =)

Have a great Wednesday!!

Recipe Club {Crockpot Chicken & Rice}

Happy Wednesday!  Today is Recipe Club day =)  Every month, the third Wednesday of the month, Heather from My Glittery Heart and I host a recipe club.  Be sure to grab our graphic and link up.  Any recipe goes!  This month we are a little later linking up, but better late than never ;)

My recipe for you today is simple.  I tend to post a lot of "simple" meals.  Simple is good around here because with working full-time and Emma in a bunch of after school activities, it's sometimes hard to get a really good meal on the table.
So i'm sharing with you, Crockpot Chicken & Rice.  The first time I ever had chicken and rice was at the Cracker Barrel and I fell in love with it.  So I decided to find a recipe that was close and I doctored it up a tad.

This is easy people.  Take all your cans of cream of mushroom and the cream of chicken and pour them into your crockpot.  Add one can of drained mushrooms (or you can use fresh), add 1 tbsp of garlic powder and 1 tbsp onion powder.  Mix it all up well.  And then place your boneless chicken tenders on top.  I pushed mine down slightly into the mixture.

Cook on high for 4-5 hours or low for 6-8 hours.

The rice.  I buy the rice in a bag and just follow the directions on the back.  Usually I make the small portion on the back.  However, instead of water I always use chicken broth.  I also saute a small onion in some butter and then add that to the finished rice.

It's so good!  On this particular night, I served it with hashbrown casserole and green beans.

Everyone in our family likes this recipe (minus Alyx, cause well she's super picky!)
So what are some recipes you've made lately?  Link up below and share with Heather and I!  Have a great Wednesday!!
