Christmas 2018 Recap

Christmas has come and gone, and here we are in 2019!  I hope you all have had a great Holiday season.  We had the best Christmas this year and today I am going to recap!

This was the first Christmas that actually felt somewhat relaxing.  I feel like in years past we were always on the go, quickly getting a big Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinner together and it was all just so rushed.  This year I vowed to slow it down, and we did and it was awesome!

For Christmas dinner this year I decided to do homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs.  And I made it two days before so all I had to do was reheat it all in the crockpot.  I am so glad I did this because there was no rushing after getting gifts opened to start on lunch.

I made 54 meatballs.  My crockpot was almost overflowing!

My in-laws started doing their Christmas with all of the family on Christmas Eve a couple of years ago.  So Christmas Eve afternoon we went to their house and enjoyed some snacks and drinks and of course present opening =)

It was so crazy!

I was so excited to give Brian his gift that I ended up giving it to him on Christmas Eve.  I had been storing it at his parents house for the last couple of weeks so it just made sense to give it to him then.

I got him an Old Town kayak.  We live in the town where all the Old Town canoes and Kayaks are made, and the City I work for ended up doing a kayak Christmas tree in our park this year.  They ordered too many kayaks, so the company ended up selling the kayaks to city employees at their cost, so I got such a great deal on it and Brian LOVED it!!  And the color is a one of a kind for this particular kayak so that's kind of cool =)

Around 3:00 we headed back home.  My parents came down to spend the night.  For dinner I just made a bunch of appetizers.  Buffalo chicken dip, bacon wrapped scallops, veggie tray and shrimp.  I kept it simple!

The girls were SO excited for the next morning.  Around 6:00 they decorated some cookies for Santa and then they both wanted to go to bed.  I made them stay up a little longer because I knew if they went right then, they would be up super early.

On their bed each Christmas Eve are bags with pajamas in them.  They are always from Mrs Clause.
 The girls both love it!

At 7:00 I gave in and let them both head to bed.  =)

Before Alyx crawled in she left some goodies for Santa and his reindeer.

And then off to bed she went.

I found this app on my phone that you can place Santa in different places in a picture, and I loved how this one came out.

Santa came, and took a nap before he left =)  Alyx freaked out with excitement the next morning when I showed her this picture.

Christmas morning the girls were up at 7:00.  Well, Emma was.  She had to wake the rest of us up =)

They were so excited to dig into their gifts!

First up was stockings.  And then I went into the kitchen to make our annual Christmas morning breakfast, Monkey bread =)

And then it was time to tear into those presents under the tree!

Such a great day!  The girls loved all of their gifts and we spent the entire day in our pajamas playing with all our new toys and just relaxing.  I hope you all had a great day as well.  I can't believe that Christmas 2018 is in the books.  We're already excited for it next year!
