Favorite Things

Happy Monday!  It's the first day of 4th grade today for Miss Emma.  I am just completely blown away by how fast time is going by.  It honestly seems like just yesterday she was going into Pre-K.  I'll do a complete re-cap of the first day of school tomorrow =)  But today I am linking up with Erika & Andrea for, Favorite things! =)

This week we're talking about our Favorite Summer Moment!  And what a perfect day for this, since yesterday was basically our last day of summer vacation.
I can't say I have one single favorite moment this summer...all of them were pretty amazing.  But seeing my girls happy, carefree and having fun was the best!  So today I'm sharing some our favorite summer days we had =)
We spent countless hours at the pool this summer, and we had so much fun!

I'm going to miss pool nights like crazy!  Not only did the girls have a blast at the pool, it also completely wore them both out before bed! haha =)

One wish I do have, is that we would have gone to the ocean more, but we did go a couple of times and the girls had too much fun playing in the sand and sea =)

Camp.  Camp in the summer is sooo nice.  Relaxing and Fun at all at the same time.

We spent hours out on the water in the kayaks, digging in the sand, playing in the water, eating yummy food, campfires & s'mores.

Our summer was great.  One of the best summers we have had in a long time.  I'm honestly really sad to see Fall come.  Only because once Fall is here...that means winter is coming.

Thank you for a great season, Summer!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, Friends!!
Linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika today for Friday Favorites =)

We just finished up school shopping for Emma!  Hallelujah!  She's officially ready to start 4th grade Monday.  And she is actually really excited about it =)  While we were out shopping I found this nightgown for Alyx...

I can't handle the cuteness of this!  She just loves it =)

This store.  I don't think I will ever bring Emma in there with me again.  We went yesterday, and she thought she needed every.single.thing.  Oh my gosh it was a nightmare!  Emma is all into makeup and nails right now.  And well, makeup from Ulta isn't always "cheap".  And she is at the age where she wants to use real makeup to play dress up with.  She picked out a makeup bag and a nailpolish.  That's as much as I would let her get. =)

I love love love to hear giggles coming from the backseat!  Yesterday while we were out running errands, Emma had Alyx laughing sooo hard =)

Emma had a MUCH needed haircut yesterday!!

It looks sooo much better and it's so much healthier now.

I woke up this morning thinking, YAY it's Friday!!!  But then I remembered this.....

Yeah...story of my life ;)

And then I painted my nails before I left for work this morning....

The name of the nail color..."Thank GLOGG it's Friday" haha  Again...I work this weekend =)

I hope you guys all have an excellent Friday and Weekend!! =)

Thoughts For Thursday

Good Morning friends!  I'm linking up again this week with Annie & Natalie with
Thoughts for Thursday =)

Can I just say how I sooo wish Emma's school wore school uniforms.  We've been finishing up school shopping for her, and it's been stressful.  She has her own opinions now on what she likes and what she doesn't like.  It would be much easier if we just had to purchase uniforms =)  She has got some really cute clothes this year though!

So I mentioned yesterday that I was going to try the wonton taco cups for dinner last night.  Well I did.  And they were a HUGE hit!!  Both my hubby and Emma absolutely loved them.  I put shredded lettuce, tomato, onions, black olives and sour cream out to add to them.  They were easy and I highly recommend them =)  I forgot to take a picture of them, but here is the recipe again if you are interested in trying them =)

We had to run to the grocery store yesterday to grab a few things, and one of the girls wasn't having it...can you guess which one??

She was over it.  Tired and ready for a nap.  We made it through the store without a huge meltdown which was good!!

We stopped at the mall yesterday to find a pair of sneakers for Emma for school.  While we were there I found a nightgown for Alyx that I could not pass up!!

Isn't it adorable!  The shawl part comes right off, and she loves it.  Disney princess in the making ;)

Yesterday was National Dog Day.

We have a pretty amazing dog =)  He's a rescue from North Carolina.  He only has a 1/2 tail, because they think another dog got into a fight with him and broke it off =(  They call him a Carolina Brown dog, only because we're not really sure what he is.  We got him when they believe he was about 7 months old.  But whatever he is, he's the most gentle amazing dog we could have ever asked for!! <3

This morning Emma and I made waffles together.  She loves to cook!

Such a good cook!

I hope you all have a fantastic Thursday!!  =)

What's Up Wednesday {8/26/15}

Happy Middle of the Week friends!  Today i'm linking up with some amazing bloggers,
Mel, Shay & Sheaffer for...

The last Wednesday of the month is when this linkup happens...so you should totally join in!

1. What we're eating this week?

Well, I love to try new recipes and tonight we are going to have wonton taco cups!  I've never made them before, but they seem super easy and really good!

2. What I'm reminiscing about?

Summer.  {sigh}  It's seriously almost over.  We had one of the very best summers ever!  I think one of the best things we did this summer is take all electronics from Emma.  She was sooo good about it, and honestly never asked once for any of them back.  We played outside a ton, we watched movies together, and just had fun.  And of course we spent countless hours at the pool =)

3. What I'm loving?

Have you heard the big news?!?  Pumpkin is back in most all coffee shops!  This is a big deal people =)  My most favorite is the hot pumpkin coffee at Dunkin'.  I haven't had one yet this season, but it's on my list!

4. What We've been up to?

School shopping!  Emma starts *4th* grade on Monday.  I can't believe it, but that's for another post.  So we have been doing lots of clothes shopping for her because she had a growth spurt and everything from last year is wayyy too short.

5. What I'm dreading?

Well to be quite honest...school starting.  Like I said, this summer has been amazing.  Yes, i'm ready for a routine again.  But i'll miss the summer nights, and sleeping in.  Emma isn't dreading it though, she's excited!!

6. What I'm working on?

Organizing my kitchen cupboards.  They are a *mess*.  Everytime I open the one that has our plastic containers, everything falls out.  LOL  So that's on my agenda for the next day or two.  And my spice/baking cupboard.  That's a mess too!

7. What I'm excited about?

I love fall...just not what comes after it winter.  I don't want to say that dreaded W word too loud ya know =)

8. What I'm watching/reading?

My absolute favorite shows will be coming back on soon, so I have been rewatching last season a bit so I can remember how everything ended.  To say i'm excited for these shows to come back on is an understatement! haha

If you watch either of these shows then you have probably heard there is a new show following along with it this season, and I am so excited about it!

I love how all 3 shows are kind of intertwined.  If you watch one, you have to watch the other two!

9. What I'm Listening to?

Always country.  And my radio is always on..

I loved when we drove to Florida and we never once had to mess with radio stations.  Love me some Sirus XM radio =)

10. What I'm wearing?

Well, pj's and no way am I taking a picture of that ;) Haha

11. What I'm doing this weekend?

Working.  It's our weekend to work, so that's where you will find both Brian and I.

12. What I'm looking forward to next month?

Emma's Birthday =)  She is going to be 9.  Where.Has.The.Time.Gone?!?!  Crazzyyy.  She has mentioned she wants a Harry Potter Birthday party.  This girl is crazy about Harry Potter.  Obsessed is more like it!!

13. What Else is New?

Brian got a promotion at work =)  He was chosen to be a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team.  I'm so proud of him, he puts in a lot of time at work and definately deserves this.  With that being said, along with this promotion comes a week away from home for training for him.  Next month he is leaving for a week to go to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  And unfortunately he is going to be away for Emma's actual birthday.  She's super sad about this, but he will be home for the party =)  And thank god for FaceTime!!

So that's all for today...I hope you all have a fab Wednesday!

Happy Monday!

It's Monday!  One more week of summer vacation for Miss Emma and then it's back to school and back to a normal routine!

Lots and lots of coffee will be consumed today, that's for sure!

It was a crazy weekend.  Brian and I were both suppose to be off all weekend.  Like Friday, Saturday & Sunday.  Unfortunately I was forced into an overtime shift Saturday night, and Brian ended up having to work last night.  Kind of put a damper on our plans for the weekend.  But that sort of thing happens with both of our jobs.

So let's back up to Friday.  Friday we had dinner at my inlaws with both of Brians brothers and their families.  The kids had a lot of fun playing =)  We headed home shortly after 7, and I got to making another batch of bread & butter pickles.  A friend of my moms graciously gave me a huge bag of pickling cukes =)

I had 8 quarts of sliced cucumbers, and I managed to get 10 jars of pickles.  Since I processed these after, I may save these for gifts for people =)

Saturday morning we were up early because we lost power around 3:30am, and when the power went out there was kind of a loud bang and it woke Alyx up.  She ended up falling back asleep around 6:00 and then I woke her up at 7:00 to go yard saling!  Terrible mother I am =)
I was able to score an american girl doll for Alyx, for $30.00!  It's used, but gently used and it came from someone we know, so it was taken care of.  Alyx loves it!  They actually had 4 of them they were selling, but we figured we would let someone else get a good deal too =)
So as soon as we got home, the girls played dolls =)

Sunday morning we got up and headed out to do school shopping for Emma.  We decided to do the outlets about 2 hours from home.  We got some really good deals!

We started off at LL Bean.  Emma needed to pick out a new lunch box and water bottle for school.   And then we hit up the rest of the outlet stores. We did get some pretty great deals.  We had lunch at a really great restaurant in downtown Freeport.  I had an amazing lobster grilled cheese.

The potato chips were homemade too.  Definately would get this again!

We left Alyx with my mom for the day so it was nice to spend a day with just Emma with no distractions.  When we got home Emma thanked us over and over again and kept telling us how she had such a great day =)

Love this little girl!!

I hope you all have a great Monday!!

Friday Favorites

Friday <3  It's a good day.
I'm linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika for...

We have somewhat of a busy weekend ahead of us.  Emma has one week of summer vacation left, and we still have a lot of school clothes shopping to do.  Her classroom list is very very small this year, which is great!  She has had a couple of years where we have had to purchase soooo many things for the classroom that it was crazy.  So this weekend we are going to head out clothes shopping for her.

It's still been hot here the last few days, and Alyx still does not like the heat.  She has been sooo fussy because of it.  I also think she is cutting some more teeth, so that could be part of the issue too.  So yesterday the girls had an "end of summer" celebration at daycare.  They had a small bounce house and a lot of water play outdoors.   The lady from the daycare texted me this picture she took of all the kiddos...

As you can see Alyx HATED the bounce house.  Ohhh this child.  She can be very hard headed, and when she doesn't want to do something...she doesn't do it.  I'll have my hands full with this one I think ;)  hehe

This was a short Friday Favorites, but I hope you all have a fab weekend!!
