*KIDS*Summer Reading Club Announcement
Tuesday, April 18, 2017
Happy Tuesday Friends =) I'm excited to tell you guys about a fun Kids Summer Reading Club that myself, Heather and Jenna are hosting.
We all love reading, and when Heather contacted me and asked how I felt about doing a Kids Summer Reading Club, I just knew that Emma would love it.
We all love reading, and when Heather contacted me and asked how I felt about doing a Kids Summer Reading Club, I just knew that Emma would love it.
Each month we will pick a new book for the kids to read.
This month we have chosen, The Babysitters Club "Kristy's Great Idea".
I don't know about you, but growing up the Babysitters Club books were one of my very favorites!
Here is a brief description of the book.
Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacey are best friends and founding members of The Baby-sitters Club. Whatever comes up -- cranky toddlers, huge dogs, scary neighbors, prank calls -- you can count on them to save the day. Baby-sitting isn't always easy, and neither is dealing with strict parents, new families, fashion emergencies, and mysterious secrets. But no matter what, the BSC have what they need most: friendship.
If you are interested in purchasing the book, you can find it by clicking HERE.
You may also be able to find it at your local library.
Once the kids have finished the book, we will link back up here on May 24th, and have your kids answer these questions.
On the 24th of May is when we will also announce what the next book will be!
If your kids love reading, we would love to have you join us!
If you have any questions, please let myself, Heather or Jenna know =)
Have a great Tuesday!

What We're Reading Wednesday {Maine Childrens Books}
Wednesday, April 5, 2017
Happy Wednesday, Friends =) I hope you are all having a good week so far. Things are looking up around here, and finally everyone is starting to feel better! Woohoo! =) Let's hope it stays this way!
Today is What We're Reading Wednesday, and I hope you will link up with us and share what you've been reading. Good or bad. Tell us about it!
This month I am doing something a little different. I'm sharing some of our favorite Children's books that we read daily, weekly and monthly. They are also all books by Maine authors. We have some really amazing authors that have come from our great state.
All of these books have been bought for the girls mostly by their Nana, my mom. And some I even had when I was Alyx's age.
Robert McCloskey is our favorite Maine Author. He's written some really great books, and Alyx loves them all.
"Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk! Sal and her mother a picking blueberries to can for the winter. But when Sal wanders to the other side of Blueberry Hill, she discovers a mama bear preparing for her own long winter. Meanwhile Sal's mother is being followed by a small bear with a big appetite for berries! Will each mother go home with the right little one?"
"Today is a special day for Sal because she gets to go to Buck's Harbour with her dad. But when she wakes up to brush her teeth with her baby sister, she discovers something shocking.... Her tooth is loose! And that's just the start of a huge day!"
"Mrs. Mallard was sure that the pond in the Boston Public Gardens would be a perfect place for her and her eight ducklings to live. The problem was how to get them there through the busy streets of Boston. But with a little help from the Boston police, Mrs. Mallard and Jack, Kack, Lack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack arive safely at their new home."
Another favorite is Andre!
Sometimes, just sometimes, a human being and a wild animal make a special connection that changes both of their lives. So it was with Rockport, Maine's Harry Goodridge and the harbor seal pup he named Andre. The two became inseparable, though the seal was free to come and go as he pleased. (His floating enclosure in the harbor simply minimized his presence in skiffs owned by yachtsmen, who complained about his sunbathing in their dinghies.)
And lastly...Goodnight Maine. My girls LOVED Goodnight Moon. So when we found this, it was a sure winner in our house!
Good Night Maine explores whales, lobster boats, puffins, Acadia National Park, black bears, seals, rafters and kayakers, boating, beaches, lakes, moose, Mount Katahdin, lighthouses, villages, and more. This delightful board book explores everything the great state of Maine has to offer. Young readers will recognize all their favorite sights and attractions. Make way for the lobsters!
So there you have some of our most favorite Maine Children's books. I've linked them all to amazon where you can find them if any peek your interest. Both my girls, and myself grew up on most of these, and they are great!
Be sure to link up and share What you've been reading! Here is a reminder of the dates we post!
Have a great day!
