Friday Favorites

Happy Friday Friends =)  I'm linking up today as always with Narci, Andrea and Erika =)

We had a pretty good week around here! By far my favorite was watching Emma compete in the state YMCA swim meet =)

I could watch her swim all.day.long!  You can read my swim meet recap by clicking HERE

I am a huge sucker for sunrises and sunsets.  During the winter months I hardly ever see them on my way to work, but it's starting to be lighter in the mornings now on my way to work.

I had to stop and take this picture the other day.  So beautiful =)

The other night I had to laugh.  Emma has snap chat and she she posted this picture.

Seriously so cute!  And I was really happy to know that she enjoys my cooking! ha =)

We had a super yummy chicken and broccoli Alfredo that particular night.  I may have to share the recipe soon!

Thursday morning I woke up wayyy before everyone else.  It was nice.  So I was able to enjoy my coffee and some news in peace and quiet ;)

I am in love with my new Rae Dunn "Hop" mug.  It says "Hip" on the other side =)

I dropped Emma off at school and she spotted her friends and was on a dead run to catch up with them.

It wasn't until this year that she has made this really great group of friends.  She's always had friends, but this year it's different.  She has this little group of them and they all get along so well.
She is growing up wayy too fast!

I think she dresses cuter than I do! ;)

Yesterday Emma had a Dentist appointment to fix her two upper front teeth.  They've always been kind of jagged, so yesterday she had them fixed!

She played Xbox until it was her turn.

And then she got a chair massage while she was waiting for the Dentist to come
into the room.

And then she watched a movie.  Yeah, our Dentist office is pretty terrible to go to! ;) haha

And not long after they were finished!

Looks SO much better.  Not that they looked horrible before, but they look really nice now.

I hope you all had a great week and have a good weekend!!
See you back here Monday!

Slime...Tuesday Talk

Happy Tuesday!

For a while now Emma has been begging to make slime.  Because apparently the stuff you buy at the store isn't cool enough, and every 10 year old needs to make their own ;)  So I finally gave in and let her make it.

She gave me a shopping list.  Liquid laundry detergent.  3 glue sticks. And a bottle of foam shaving cream.
Done.

She asked me to buy Gain laundry detergent...But I don't normally use that brand and I wasn't going to spend $10 on a bottle of it.  So I got her the $1.99 Purex brand.

Emma went to town cutting up the glue sticks and then mushing them up in her hands.
She followed the tutorial to a T.

And then a teaspoon of water was added to the glue sticks, and then microwaved for 20 seconds.

She then added blue food coloring.

And of course...the shaving cream.

Both girls were VERY excited for the outcome!

They stirred.  And stirred.  And stirred some more.

So was it a Pinterest success or fail???

It was a BIG Fail!  It didn't even harden up at all =(
They were both super bummed!

Emma is certain that it's because I bought cheap laundry detergent :/  I'm not sure.  But overall it was a huge fail.  So if you see this particular "recipe" for slime on Pinterest...don't waste your time...or money! Ha! =)

hello Monday

Hello!  Happy Monday friends =)  I hope you all had a great weekend.  Link up your weekend posts below =)

We had such a great weekend!  This past week was actually one of the best we've had in a long time.  Brian was home at night all week because he had training at work.  It's so nice when he is home at night.  I'm bummed that today is the start of him working nights again.  But, like I said...our weekend was great!  So let's recap!

Friday when I got out of work Brian met me in town and we did some shopping.  Our Macy's is closing and I am sooo incredibly sad about it.  So we went to see if they had any deals, and they really didn't.  We picked up dinner at Chipotle and we headed home.  Emma got home around 8, she went to her school for movie night.  They showed Trolls.  I can't even tell you how many times that movie has played in our house! Ha!

Saturday we were up bright and early.  6am.  We had to be at the University in the next town over by 6:45 to get tickets for Emma's swimming event.  This past weekend was the Maine YMCA State Swimming meet.  So beware...this is a very heavy picture post!

When we got there the line was already really really long.  I was nervous we wouldn't get tickets.  They only sell 400 tickets for each event.  And every person can purchase up to 5 tickets for an event.  Thankfully we were able to get all the tickets we needed!

We headed back there around 11:30.  Emma had to be there at 12:00.

There wasn't a bad seat in the entire place.  Emma was so nervous.  She had never swam in front of this many people or against this many people.  She swam the 50 Freestyle, 50 Backstroke and the 200 Relay.

Her first event was the 50 Freestyle.  She was in lane 2.  When she dove, she dove in way too deep and it took her longer to come back up.  So she lost quite a bit of time there.  She came in 5th place with a time of 42.68 seconds.  Not bad!

Her second event was the 50 Backstroke.

She was in lane 8.  Her time was 51.86 seconds, and she came in 1st place in this heat!  So proud of her!!
Her coach was so excited for her too!

Her third and final heat was the 200 Relay.  You guys, these girls ROCKED the relay!  It was Emma and 3 other girls, and they worked SO well together!!!

They were in lane 4.  Came in first place with a time of 2:59.96!  1st place for these girls! =)

I am so beyond proud of not just Emma but the entire team.  They are an amazing group of kids and they worked so hard to earn a spot at the State swim meet.  This swim season has officially come to a close, and now I have no idea what we are going to do with our spare time now.  Oh wait...yeah I do.  Softball!  Ha!  Softball starts in just a couple of weeks, so we have a bit of downtime before that gets going.  Brian is helping coach Em's team this year, and Emma seems to be really excited about it. =)

Sunday was spent doing...NOTHING.  Ha!  We spent the entire day just relaxing.  Which was really nice.
