Overnight Trip! =)

I love when we get to leave town for a night and stay in a hotel =)  We decided before Emma starts school on Tuesday to take her to southern Maine for a night.  We left yesterday afternoon and made the trek to Portland which is about 2 hours from home.  We stayed at a Doubletree and it was beautiful!  Most comfortable beds ever =)  We went to the Mall, and then had dinner at the cracker barrel =)  Then it was time for a swim in the pool at the hotel.

After our swim we headed back to the room to get some sleep.  Let me tell you, Emma was NOT in the mood for sleeping.  Super cranky and whiney.  Oh. My. Word.  We started around 8:00 trying to get her to fall asleep and it was about 11:00 when she finally caved and fell asleep.  =)

This morning we woke up at 9:00, showered and then headed out for the day.  We made a breakfast stop at Dunkin Donuts for coffee and bagels and then started towards York, Maine.  We were heading to York's Wild Animal Kingdom.  I wasn't too sure what to expect.  It's pretty much the only zoo in Maine.  I have to say it wasn't too bad!  We've definately been to better places, but Emma liked it and that's all that mattered =)
We LOVED the fact that you could just walk around with the goats and deer!!  Emma thought it was sooo neat!
So the Zoo really wasn't that bad.  Lots of animals to see!  The other section of this place was an "Amusement" park.  Anndd well, we weren't exactly impressed with that portion at all.  It was pretty much straight out of a 1980's carnival.  None of the rides were new.  I swear they were about 30 years old, if not older.  Emma did enjoy the rides she did go on though.
After a few hours of being there, we headed to Kennebunkport.  I love Kennebunkport.  It's a typical coastal Maine town, and it is absolutely goregous there.  We stopped at a beach and let Emma swim in the ocean.
After we left the beach we headed to St Ann's Episcopal Church.  It is by far the most beautiful church I have ever seen.  It's located right on the ocean.  I didn't get too many photos of it though.
This church is where Taylor Swift had her video premiere of "Mine".  That video was actually shot in Kennebunkport.  Emma thought that was super cool!
Then we headed down the road just a little ways to where President George Bush's summer "cottage" is.  They refer to it as "Walkers Point".  It is simply beautful.
I remember coming here as a kid, and you couldn't get anywhere near his home.  At that time he was President and there were literally thousands of people here wanting to see it.  Now there wasn't too many people, but there was quite a bit of secret service people around.
It's always been known if the Texas flag is flying, the Bush's are there.  And today the Texas flag was flying!
And that was our mini trip!  We had a blast!  And Brian and I still have 2 more days off together! =)  Tomorrow morning we are heading to my parents house for the day/night.  I'm going to miss summer when it's gone.  Emma starts school bright and early Tuesday morning!  I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!!! =)

  1. Looks like so much fun. The picture at the "zoo" where the lady is in the back ground with her ipad taking a picture cracks me up to think that people have use them as their camera, I'm scared to take my out of the house!
My parents have been to Kennebunkport and loved it (Mom loves her some Republicans!)

    1. I saw the lady with the I-Pad! I really was shocked she had it at the zoo taking photos, pretty strange! haha

    2. I also keep meaning to ask if you are on Zulilly. They have had leotards on there during the past few weeks and I think of your Emma every time I see them!

    3. I do check Zulily, and every single time they have leotards I have been too late and they have all been sold out! I need to remember to be on the computer right away in the morning =)

  2. Sounds like a great mini vacation. Cite pictures and that church is beautiful

  3. Looks like y'all had a great little vacation! I love the ocean pictures!

  4. What a fun trip! Oh my word, George Bush's "cottage" looks pretty amazing! And that church... beautiful! Cool fact... I didn't know that was where Taylor Swift sang her song; how fun!

  5. Looks like a fun trip! The black and white pictures at the beach are gorgeous!
