Weekend Recap {Camp}

Here we are, Monday again!  Why do weekends just fly by so fast??  And a great weekend it was!  So let's recap =)

Friday evening the girls and I went shopping with my mother in law to get food for camp the next night.  We hit up Sams Club, which is like Emma's favorite place because she can "test" new foods, ha!  After the girls and I went and had a quick dinner with Brian at work.  Both girls were in bed and asleep by 8:30 =)

Saturday morning we got up bright and early.  Brian and I had to run to the grocery store to get a few last minute items, and then we hit the road for our 1 1/2 hour trip to camp.

The girls, and Gunner were ready to go!  Once we hit the camp road, it's a private road so Brian always lets Emma drive.  She sits on his lap and just in control of the wheel, Brian controls the pedals ;)

When we go to this camp, it's not like just driving up to the driveway and unloading our stuff into the camp.  No, this camp is literally in the middle of the woods.  We park our cars out at the dirt road and then we walk about 1/2 mile down a wooded path with all of our stuff.  Brians dad does have a side by side that he will sometimes bring so we don't have to carry everything.  So once we finally got all our stuff put away for the day/night, we had lunch and then Emma was itching to go swimming!  The water was pretty warm too =)

Brian and I kayaked over to a little island, and picked some blueberries.

Emma LOVES and I mean loves to kayak.  She could have been on the water all day long.  And she definitely got a good workout doing it!

Alyx basically spent the afternoon on the beach playing with beach toys.  She has little interest in actually getting into the lake.  But she still had fun.

Gunner even went out into the kayak with me.  He just sits on my lap and lays his head down and enjoys the water. haha, he's such a funny dog =)

The sunsets are so much more beautiful on the lake than in town.  And it was fun to be out on the kayak and watch the sunset.

After the sun set we had a campfire and made s'mores of course!  So good, but soooo messy!!  My mother in law got Alyx to sleep and then we all stayed up and played a couple of board games.  I took this picture just before Alyx went to sleep.

Alyx looks wayyy too big sitting there.

Sunday morning we all woke up around 6am.  I was hoping to get up to see the sunrise, but that didn't happen =)  I did get to enjoy my coffee on the beach though, which was sooo nice and relaxing.

Alyx played in the water, and Emma kayaked around a bit.  It was a bit chilly, but the girls had a blast.

After breakfast we packed up and headed home.  It was a fun weekend, and both girls slept on the way home.  I could have slept too, but I stayed awake to keep Brian company =)  And I don't think Gunner has moved off the couch since we got home, hehe =)

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend as well!!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends!  The weekend is just about here!  I'm linking up with Andrea, Narci & Erika today, for Friday Favorites =)

When I was little I had a huge obsession with press on nails.  Like seriously obsessed!  I think that's why I am in love with nail polish to this day.  Well, I believe I have passed on the press on nail obsession to Emma....

These things have come a long way since back in the day!  They now have the sticky back already on them!  Remember those tiny pieces of glue that you would have to peel off and then attempt to place them on your nail correctly??  Yeah, not anymore.  It's all done for you ;)

Speaking of nail polish, I have just found that OPI made a Nordic collection, and I'm in need of it!

I love these colors, especially the dark purple!!

I've been using a lot of recipes from my great great aunts recipe book.  The book was a gift from my Grandmother years ago, and everytime I open it, it brings back memories of my grandmother.  I am so glad she gave me this book and took the time to write in it.

It has all of our family's favorite Swedish recipes in it...and they are all amazing =)

We are off to my in-laws camp this weekend!  It's suppose to be a nice weekend so we are looking forward to some relaxing and time on the water!

Happy Friday, and I hope you all have a fabulous Weekend!! =)

What to Eat

I feel like we eat out a lot.  Like a lot.  I love to go out for dinner or lunch or well even breakfast.  But I also love to cook.  But with our crazy busy and hectic work/school/sport schedules, I find often that there is little time to cook to get dinner on the table at a reasonable time.  So for this up coming school year i'm going to try and make dinner every night during the week.  Friday night & Saturday night will be our "up in the air" night if you will.  Those nights are sometimes fun to order out or grab something and bring it home.
So here is where you come in to play.  Share with me some of your favorite crockpot or easy weekday meal recipes.  I'm always up for trying something new.

Here are some that i'm going to try very soon!

BBQ Pork Sandwiches

These could also be turned into a bbq pork taco!

Slow Cooker Ritz Chicken.  This sounds super simple, and add a veggie and you are done!

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Roast...I think this one would be a big hit and again, easy!

Layered Dorito Casserole.  This one I think Emma would LOVE.

So there are a few that we are going to try.  But I would love for any of you to share any easy weekday meals with me!
So now...share away!!!

Happy Thursday!

Happy Thursday!

Wednesday.

Happy Wednesday my friends!  I'm back to work today after having 2 days off.  Alyx was sick for a couple of days, but seemed to be a lot better last night.  Thankfully!

This little girl is such a ham!  I bought this Matilda Jane skirt for her when she was just a few months old.  I've been hoarding it waiting for it to fit her, and it finally does!  And last week someone was selling the MJ tank to match, and I couldn't pass it up!  My favorite outfit ever on her by far =)

So I've been doing a lot of canning at home lately.  Canning pickles!  I tried my hand at watermelon pickles yesterday and I can't wait to try them.

Can't wait to try them!

So this is how Alyx had been for a couple of days.  Laying on the couch with her Elmo pillow and her blankie and her paci.  She's so funny because she refers to her paci as her "Potter".  Not sure where that came from, but it's cute =)

My absolute favorite part of the day is first thing in the morning.  Before the girls wake up.  I find that i'm usually awake now before either of them wake up, and I love it.  It's kind of like a little "me" time.  Coffee, iPad & tv.

Yesterday all of us took a ride out to the lake.  We're wishful thinking right now about buying a camp of our own.  It's not in the cards right now, but hopefully someday.

I told Brian I can picture our camp right here.  Ha!  Someday ;)

The weekend is coming!  Happy Wednesday!! =)
